Let me begin by saying that I am not a poet. But this came to me on my morning walk a few days ago, so I decided to write it down. (warning -- it's a little depressing)
There is a sadness in this late summer day,
A brown leaf crunches underfoot,
An unsettling breeze stirs memories of cooler days.
Still, the hazy sunlight shining bravely through the trees
Soothes and envelopes
As I consider my father's failing health.
This glorious summer will come to an end.
Nothing lasts forever.
You are a poet Debbie, this is very good albeit with a sad side to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, Ann! It is a sad time, but there is also so much love and beauty all around.
DeleteA very expressive poem, Debbie. There is a sadness to it. It applies to a number of us. I personally dealing with my husband's incurable illness and his failing health. We've been married 56 years so it is like have bits of myself nibbled away.
ReplyDeleteHi Faye. Thank you so much for reading my poem. I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I think it's good we have art to help us through these difficult times. I'm finding it very therapeutic. I'll be thinking of you. Take care.
DeleteVery beautiful Debbie, full of heart and emotions. Pleasure to read it. thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Aga. It was scary for me to post a poem here.
