Snow Daze
We've had a rare week of winter here in the Pacific Northwest and it's been a doozy, complete with ice storm, downed trees (3 in our yard), and kids home from school all week. They've had fun in the snow, though, but now we're ready for the rain to come back and melt all this white wonderland away.
Moving along to painting. I decided to try a larger piece. I began with a 12"X 12" sheet of watercolor paper.
After several layers of paint and collage elements, I decided I wasn't happy with it, so as you can see above, I cut it into 4 smaller pieces and worked more on each one after that.
The sunflower is a gel transfer with pencil sketching. I love the words at the bottom, "Across the heavens, and silent.." Did you hear that, kids?
Happy PPF to my Paint Part Friday friends!

nice idea to work on a smaller scale, it looks great together too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Debbie. Thanks for sharing. Happy weekend to you. Make some soup in that cold weather.
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteYou can certainly tell it's winter in the Pacific Northwest! I am on the opposite side of the country {NJ shore} and the first significant snowfall of the season is predicted tonight.
Wow! I have always admired those that can work with a variety of mediums. Your collages are beautiful and I too, like the message: "Across the heavens and silent".

Such beautiful colors. I like it best as 4 paintings.
ReplyDeleteI love your mix of pattern and color! It's gorgeous. I wish we'd have some snow days...this has been an uncommonly warm winter.

I love them cut up and really like the colour palette... they are lovely as smaller pieces... it always makes my heart beat a bit faster when I cut a piece up... love your courage... happy ppf xx
ReplyDeleteMy kids so wish they were out there - we've not had much snow. Last year we had 18" by now, but this year less than 1". I'm happy that the roads and trees have all been clear but the kids want to go sledding. Love all the layers in your collage. I just cut up a painting I wasn't in love with but am totally in love with the smaller ones.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Collages, I love it cut up, that took courage, but well worth it. Happy PPF xx
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing what cutting a piece up can do? These are really lovely. I like the summery color palette. Wishful thinking, hmmm?
ReplyDeleteLovely! Great collage and colors. I always enjoy seeing what people do when they're frustrated with how a piece is going. Cutting it up is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!
Love these collage-paintings, Debbie!
